Lukas attended the meeting of the German Society for Epileptology in Salzburg. He gave a presentation on associative memory in the symposium “Neuropsychologisches Symposium - Gedächtnisstörungen – Klinik, Mechanismen, Therapie”, chaired by Dörthe Heinemann and Christian Hoppe.

Josh Jacobs from Columbia University visited us in Bonn and gave a talk on “Neural correlates of human memory with direct human brain recordings and traveling waves.” It was great having you, Josh!

Lukas took part in the Ernst Struengmann Forum “Navigation Research: Mapping the Future,” which took place at the Ernst Struengmann Institute in Frankfurt from December 1-6, 2024. The Forum was chaired by Nora S. Newcombe and Ken Cheng and brought together 40 researchers specialized in navigation research. Together with Philipp, Lukas wrote a background paper on the question ‘‘Do Data from Intracranial Techniques Align (or Not) with What We Have Learned about Human Navigation from fMRI?’’ that was discussed at the Forum and will be published as part of a larger book summarizing the Forum’s scientific output.

John O’Keefe visited the lab of Florian Mormann and our lab in Bonn. We had lots of exciting discussions on place cells, concept cells, and cross-species comparisons!

Philipp and Lukas attended SfN 2024 in Chicago, USA. Lukas gave a talk on egocentrically tuned neurons in the nanosymposium “Neural Activity Underlying Higher-Order Human Behaviors: Insights From Intracranial Recordings” organized by Salman Qasim and Jie Zheng. Philipp presented a poster featuring his latest work on EEG representations related to learning and memory-guided action. This was a great experience!

Tim and Lukas attended FENS 2024 in Vienna, Austria. Lukas organized a symposium on “Neural mechanisms underlying spatial navigation and spatial memory across species”. In this symposium, Kate Jeffery, Gily Ginosar, Dmitriy Aronov, and Lukas presented studies on neural representations of space in rats, bats, birds, and humans. Tim presented a poster featuring his work on theta-phase locking of single neurons in humans. This was a great conference with many inspiring discussions!

Laura and Lukas presented posters at the 5th Interdisciplinary Navigation Symposium that took place in Merano, Italy. This was a fantastic symposium with many excellent presentations and discussions!
